Een half uur pause, 10 min. opbouwen, 10 min. show, 10 afbreken.

Over 300 MACs in action at Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games and related events



Martin is proud to be a lighting supplier to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Lighting provider Oasis Stagewerks of Salt Lake City is delivering the bulk of a Martin lighting package that is being incorporated into several event facilities, shows and other venues at the Winter Olympic Games.

MACs for Olympic figure skating and ice hockey venues

Olympic figure skaters, including gold medal favorite Michelle Kwan, will be lit by no less than 106 MAC 600 eNT washlights and 102 MAC 2000E profile spots during the figure skating events to be held at the Delta Center (renamed the Salt Lake Ice Center during the Games). The electronic ballast MAC 2000 units are being supplied by Theatrical Lighting Systems of Huntsville, Alabama with Oasis Stagewerks supplying the electronic ballast MAC 600 NTs. Lighting design at the Salt Lake Ice Center is being completed by Billy Brennan.

At the ‘E’ Center Arena in West Valley City, the focal point for the ice hockey competition, visitor’s will be greeted by gobo projections from 4 Martin MAC 2000 profiles that will skate across the venue’s ice rink. The MAC 2000s are being supplied by D/AV of Las Vegas.

Sponsor pavilions

Martin lighting will also be incorporated into several of The Olympic Partners (TOP) pavilions, including Coco-Cola and Samsung. TOP is a worldwide sponsorship program administered by the International Olympic Committee that benefits Olympic Committees, Olympic teams and the Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games. Oasis Stagewerks are delivering 18 MAC 2000E and 12 MAC 600 profile units to the Coca-Cola Pavilion at Olympic Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung pavilion, used to welcome Olympic athletes and the general public, will be outfitted with 12 MAC 300 washlights and 12 MAC 250+ profile spots.

Related events, programs and venues

The newly formed Olympic Cultural Olympiad, an Olympic arts festival and required element of the Games designed to celebrate the host area’s heritage, culture, and contribution to the arts, will be outfitted with 8 MAC 2000E units for the Utah Opera Company with Ken Billington as the lighting designer.

Some 84 MAC 2000s are also being used at the Church of Latter Day Saints Conference Center in the show "Light of the World" courtesy of lighting supplier Upstaging and Lighting Designer Jonathon Featherstone.

Local venues have spruced up for the Games as well, including downtown club Port of Call which has added 4 MAC 250 profiles to their stage and the Dead Goat Pub which has installed a variety of luminaries from the Martin Club Series.
