It may not be Paris in the spring, but Frankfurt indisputably hosts the biggest pro audio exhibition in the world. And this year visitors to prolight+sound 2011 will see a stand full of new products from Turbosound from April 6 to 9 at the Frankfurt Messe.

This year’s exhibition marks the exclusive preview into the European market on stand 8.0H40 of Turbosound’s eagerly awaited Flashline TFS-900 large format line array system designed for large concert stages and signals a welcome return to the concert touring field.

Flashline offers massive power density in a very small footprint. With its total complement of 11 drive units, the design of the TFS-900H mid/high cabinet aims to maximise performance from each of its four frequency bands by the use of dedicated, very high power drive units. The entire vocal range is reproduced exclusively by cone drivers, loaded with the latest generation of combined Polyhorn™ mid frequency and Dendritic high frequency waveguides, with outstanding clarity and detail. The TFS-900H covers the frequency range from 50Hz to 20kHz and has a coverage pattern of 90° horizontal by 3.6° vertical.

The matching TFS-900L subwoofer is a dual 18” cabinet employing hybrid horn-loading techniques in order to generate prodigious sub frequency energy with a massive 3,000 watt power rating.

Flashline is supplied as a five-way turnkey sound reinforcement package complete with mid/high and sub frequency loudspeakers and the new 20000DP powered management system, which contains dedicated presets specifically designed by Turbosound engineers to optimise Flashline’s performance. It provides four discrete channels each rated at 4,400 watts into 4 ohms, as well as the widely accepted advantages of an integrated Dante networked audio distribution and two fully featured Lake Processor modules.

Turbosound is adding to its already formidable roster of high performance wedge monitors – from the now legendary double 15” TFM-350 much favoured by Led Zeppelin to the all-neodymium TFM-420 and TFM-450. Designed with the same sleek modern profile as the recently released dual 12” TFM-560, the new switchable active/passive TMW-115 floor monitor makes ingenious use of a coaxial neodymium 15”/1” combination drive unit to produce a low profile enclosure that is ideally suited for vocal monitoring and horn sections.

Also on display will be the Flex Array medium scale line array system complete with the new GS-600 ground stacking kit which securely and safely interfaces between subwoofers and TFA-600 mid/high enclosures.

Turbosound’s new professional full-range TMS system addresses the needs of regional sound production companies with a pole-mountable portable configuration consisting of a 10”/1” mid/high and horn-loaded 18” subwoofer. The Polyhorn-loaded 10” midrange driver provides excellent efficiency and vocal articulation. The TMS system is provided with heavy duty wheels on the sub unit, and allows the mid/high to be conveniently stowed in the subwoofer for transportation.

Turbosound is also showcasing the latest addition to its popular Milan range of portable products at prolight+sound: the Milan Mi0 self-powered two-way loudspeaker is housed in a stylish rigidised injection-moulded enclosure, and features balanced microphone and line inputs with two-band equalisation, sophisticated limiters, and a mix-out function for parallel connection to additional Milan loudspeakers. With its dual angle pole mount socket the Mi0 effortlessly doubles as a front-of-house loudspeaker or compact powered wedge monitor for live music and mobile DJ applications.

Turbosound staff will be on the stand to show visitors the many advantages of using Turbosound loudspeakers, which have proved so consistently successful in the live sound and installed sound industry.

FIR filters improve performance

In a joint initiative with Lab.gruppen, Turbosound has announced the release of dedicated FIR filters for Lab.gruppens’s DSP-based PLM series amplifiers for exclusive use with Turbosound’s top selling Flex Array product line.
The FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters are designed to derive the best performance from Turbosound’s Flex Array and Flashline concert touring loudspeaker systems, and will work with Lab.gruppen’s PLM10000, PLM14000 and PLM20000 amplifiers as well as the company’s LM26 processor.
The project directly resulted from discussions with Peter Morris of Adelaide Sound Hire in Australia, who worked with Turbosound to develop the presets and who was convinced of the improvement possibilities.
Peter Morris sums up the success of the project nicely: "Flex Array has always impressed me, but with the new FIRs it excels at everything we throw at it. From outdoor metal festivals to theatre and orchestral shows, it's the best sounding, and most versatile system I've heard."
The re-engineered DSP parameters use the Lake and Lab.gruppen linear phase filters. “These filters by default improve the loudspeaker’s impulse response through the mid/high section,” says Turbosound’s senior design engineer Dan Orton. “They have also allowed us to use crossover points/filters previously unavailable due to the significant compromise in horizontal and vertical dispersion characteristics.”
Morris adds: "it was an absolute delight to work with the engineers at Turbosound on the development of the FIR filters. It's rare these days to find engineers so passionate about their product yet so receptive to feedback from the field. Dan and the whole team were a real pleasure to work with."

hallo beste mannen...

ff gauw een vraagje over pro light + sound...

ik wil tickets via internet bestellen... alleen dit kan alleen via creditcard zie ik.. is het nog op een andere manier mogenlijk ? zonder dat ik een hoger bedrag moet betalen aan kas.

Ik heb flink wat info van een ander (Engels) forum weten te vissen.

De vier weg line-array:

Hier zie je mooi hoe de mid-drivers op een héél compact (kick?)hoorntje zitten.

4-weg is ook écht 4-weg hé!

Het is echt wonderbaarlijk hoe de ontwerpers zoveel componenten in zo'n kleine behuizing hebben weten te proppen. Hier staat ook de nieuwe dubbel 18" sub afgebeeld, die samen met de line-array een mooi op elkaar aansluitend 5-weg systeem vormt.

Nogmaals de waveguide.

Kijk ook naar die afwerking, echt enorm netjes afgewerkt allemaal! Het sluit allemaal perfect op elkaar aan, er zijn mooie materialen gebruikt en dergelijke.
Maar dat ben ik ook wel gewend van Turbosound.

Over de precieze specs kan ik nog alleen maar speculeren. Daarover binnenkort meer. Ik ben ook erg benieuwd naar de nieuwe TMS serie, die naar het schijnt bestaat uit een 18" sub waar een bijpassende 10" top in te vervoeren is, beetje á la Outline Kangaroo.

De sub onder Flashline is dubbel 21" volgens mij.
De kast is ook een flink stuk groter dan de 218 die onder flex lag op de messe.

De componenten in Flashline zijn:

Flash Line is a 5 way (including all new subs) system. Each 4 way horn loaded line array element contains: (x2) 12" L, (x4) 6.5" LM, (x2) 6.5" HM, (x3) 1.75" HF.

Wat me bevalt is het gebruik van een papieren conus in het midgebied...

Nu maar hopen dat dit systeem niet als andere line-arrays kapot-geprocessed wordt!
